The Uncommon Friends Foundation mourns the loss of Dr. David G. Robinson, a personal friend of Jim & Ellie Newton and longtime board member who served the foundation with a terrific sense of service.

Uncommon Friends Foundation president John Albion released this statement today:

“We have genuine sadness today, mixed with gratitude for the success instigated and accomplished by this uniquely capable man. Dr. Robinson will be remembered as an outstanding mentor at nurturing people and a visionary for his ability to seek out new opportunities. Whether as president of the former Edison Junior College or in the many leadership positions he held in the community, Dr. Robinson generated progress in a genuine way, helping shape our region in his areas of ability and expertise. In his own way, Dr. Robinson helped shape Southwest Florida’s future, just as the five Uncommon Friends did for our community and the world.”

In memory of Dr. Robinson, the Uncommon Friends Foundation has tied a blue ribbon around one of the royal palms in front of the headquarters of the Uncommon Friends Foundation at the Burroughs Home and Gardens in Fort Myers to commemorate his impact on the foundation.

The Uncommon Friends Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1993 and dedicated to lifelong character building among today’s youth and business leaders.
